A neutral hydrogen cloud with a velocity of -447 km per sec relative to the local standard of rest has been discovered near the direction of the Andromeda nebula (M31). Observations with the Mark IA radio telescope show that its half-power dimensions are 0.40 deg x 0.36 deg; it is situated approximately 1.5 deg NW of the center of M31. Two alternative theories of the origin of this cloud are discussed.
