The behavior of the small ion components (N+, O+(2D), O+(2P), and
O2+(4pi)) of the ionosphere is studied on the basis of theoretical
considerations. The influence of these components on the electron
kinetics in a ionosphere disturbed by a pulsed ionization source is
evaluated.
