A stability analysis against axisymmetric perturbations for counter-rotating discs is provided. These discs have equal numbers of particles moving in each sense of rotation. The space-time they create is static and self-similar. The classic stability criterion valid for Newtonian systems is generalized straightforwardly to these relativistic systems. A relativistic criterion derived from a proper relativistic analysis is also given. The results for both criteria are compared.
