A study is made of the distribution on the ecliptic of the ascending nodes of the orbits of comets whose periods exceed 500 y and comets with nearly parabolic orbits. The density of nodes increases near solstices and there are minima near equinoxes. The orbital poles of bright comets tend to group a great circle whose plane is perpendicular to the sun's velocity vector. A correlation is found between cometary orbital inclinations and the longitude of the ascending nodes.
