The existing simple diffusive equilibrium model distributions in the magnetosphere are modified in such a way that they become as close as possible to the mathematical model distribution. The magnetospheric conditions are appropriate to the equinox and L of 2.3 for the solar minimum and solar maximum. The approximations to the model electron distribution results are used to compute the group delay of the signals from the NAA and NSS transmitters, with the perturbations due to the effects of finite electron density, ion effects, and nonzero electron temperature effects taken into account.
