Data are presented on the isotopic compositions of a number of chondrules of different ages, together with the results of track studies in these chondrules. These data are used to hypothesize on the age of these chondrules, the mechanisms of formation, and their subsequent evolution. Track studies of O chondrules in O- and C-chondrites show that the major part of crystals with tracks of VH nuclei were irradiated in free space and on the surfaces of planetesimals, and only later were incorporated in chondrules or formed agglomerate chondrules by 'cold' brecciation.
