An analysis is presented of Einstein Observatory observations of the point X-ray source 1E 2259 + 586 discovered within the supernova remnant-like extended X-ray source G109.1-1.0. Data were obtained with the Imaging Proportional Counter for a two-hour period, and analyzed by a straightforward period-folding technique. A strongly modulated signal with a period of 3.4890 + or - 0.0002 sec is obtained which is also found in the discovery observation made seven months earlier. The period and modulation of the variation are consistent with known X-ray pulsars, with X-ray luminosity due to accretion from a close companion. 1E 2259 + 586 thus represents the only known accretion-powered X-ray pulsar associated with a supernova remnant.
