A technique for obtaining digital PWM (pulse width modulation) high frequency modulation in large signal operations is presented. Nonlinear state feedback control techniques introduced by Valentin (1984) have proved to be a great improvement for large signal operation of dc/dc or dc/ac converters. Unfortunately, analog implementation of nonlinear control loops is complex and highly difficult to set up. Digital implementation of these loops can be achieved but the use of high frequency PWM prohibits complex real time calculations with microprocessors. The proposed solution consists of a previous off line calculation and record of the dynamic switch duty ratio corresponding to the control loop. The main interest of this control technique is its extreme flexibility. It allows simple development of sophisticated nonlinear control loops.
