The geologies of the terrestrial planets and satellites, with the exception of the earth, are reviewed. The lunar stratigraphic column is discussed, and the four systems within the column, the Pre-Imbrian, Imbrian, Eratosthenian and Copernican systems, are characterized. The global geologic evolution of Mars is outlined based primarily on Viking Orbiter and Mariner 9 data, and geologic processes associated with the presence of water and a thin atmosphere on Mars are considered. The topographic features of Venus observed by earth-based and Pioneer-Venus radars are discussed, and implications of the topography distributions for the relative internal structures of Venus and the earth are pointed out. Finally, attention is given to the geological histories of the Galilean satellites Callisto, Ganymede, Io and Europa as derived from the Voyager 1 and 2 encounters.
