The distance to the red supergiants in IC 4182 are investigated with near-IR photometric data and compared to the values derived with other methods. The brightest red supergiants are assumed to be 'standard candles' and are given a suitable absolute calibration. The distance modulus is computed and compared to the value calculated by Sandage and Tamman (1982), and attention is given to the apparent magnitude of SN 1937C at maximum light. The data are corrected for internal extinction by examining recent estimates of the supernova's B- and V-magnitudes and intrinsic color. The absolute calibration of M(B)max is -18.8 +/- 0.34 for SN 1937A, and the value is held as typical for SN Ia. The Hubble constant derived with the values is found to be consistent with those of other techniques underscoring the conflict between the values of H(0) and the ages of globular clusters in an Omega = 1 universe.
