Deep CCD photometry for Pal 3 and C0422-213 confirm that the horizontal branches of these outer halo clusters are too red for their metal abundances. Apparent distance moduli (m - M)v of 19.81 + or - 0.07 for Pal 3 and 19.67 + or - 0.07 for C0422-213 are obtained. A turn off is found for both clusters which is just above the photometric limit for Pal 3. Ages are derived for the clusters (15 + or - 3 Gyr for C0422-213 and a lower limit of 12 Gyr for Pal 3) which are slightly lower than those found for classical globular clusters.
