It is argued that the apparent separation of Delta Scuti stars and
classical Cepheids into two classes is due to a simple selection effect,
and that Delta Sct stars and Cepheids are really a single class of
variable star. The precision with which the P-L and other relations are
known can be greatly improved by combining the two classes.
