Results of an Hα+[N II] narrow-band-imaging survey of x-ray-selected E and SO galaxies are presented. The resulting emission-line luminosities and limits for these objects are examined for correlations with other galaxy properties suggesting generation in classical AGN, cooling flows, or other phenomena. No evidence is found linking optical emission to properties of the hot interstellar medium. A correlation is found between radio continuum power and optical emission-line luminosity, suggesting an important role for AGN in the generation of optical nebulosity in these objects. This result is in disagreement with other studies of early-type galaxies. The correlation found here may reflect the modest size of the present sample or possibly the x-ray-selection criterion.
