Analytic approximations to the Green's functions for scattering of photons by cold electrons in finite media of various geometries are derived. The probabilities of a photon to escape spherical and plane-parallel, semi-infinite media after n scatterings are computed, and the results are compared to those previously obtained by the 'scattering time' method. Green's functions are then obtained by combining these probabilities with the wavelength distribution after n scatterings. To illustrate the results, the emergent spectra from the input blackbody and bremsstrahlung spectra in the geometries mentioned above are computed.
