The Oriented Scintillation Spectrometer Experiment (OSSE) on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory has performed numerous observations of the Galactic plane and Galactic center region to search for Galactic gamma-ray line and continuum emissions and to measure their angular distributions. Gamma-ray lines of particular interest include the 511 {keV} line produced by positron annihilation and the 1.809 {MeV} line resulting from the decay of radioactive {(26) Al}. An identification of the source of the positrons and {(26) Al} is critical to our understanding of the processes involved in their production. OSSE has spent a total of 14 weeks observing the Galactic center and 10 weeks observing the Galactic plane in the longitude range -38(deg) - +58(deg) . Analysis of the Galactic center observations indicate the presence of a 511 {keV} line and positronium continuum (IAUC 5323), and the results of the Galactic plane observations indicate that the emission is concentrated near the Galactic center. No significant evidence for time variability of the 511 {keV} line flux has been observed in the preliminary analysis performed to date. These and other results from the OSSE Galactic plane and Galactic center observations will be presented and used to constrain the distributions of the line emissions.
