Results are presented of observations of the emission nebula Sharpless 183 at 408 and 1420 MHz, which yield integrated flux densities of 6.0 +/- 0.6 and 6.2 +/- 0.4 Jy, respectively. The optical object is seen to be a small part of a much larger object; the equivalent diameter of the radio continuum source is 53 arcmin. The spectral index over this frequency range is -0.03 +/- 0.03 after removal of superimposed small-diameter sources. The velocity obtained from the recombination line observation is -63.5 km/s, which places S 183 in the Perseus spiral arm at a distance of 7 +/- 1.5 kpc. H I observations show a circular structure of diameter about 65 arcmin in the velocity range -56.8 to -66.7 km/s; its structure is probably associated with S 183. It is interpreted as a bubble, blown by the stellar winds of the star or stars which excite the H II region.
