As part of an extensive survey of trigonometric parallaxes and proper motions in the region of the South Galactic Cap, data for a complete sample of nearly 900 stars brighter than B = 14 have been obtained from plates taken with the UK Schmidt Telescope and measured on the GALAXY machine. The histograms of reduced proper motions for different B-V colors indicate the presence of three populations of red stars: giants, subgiants and dwarfs. The space density and kinematics of the dwarfs are discussed.
