Scientific paper
In order to understand the interaction between the coronal mass ejections (CME) and the ambient solar wind, when they are traveling in the interplanetary medium, we have analyzed the mean acceleration of interplanetary CMEs (ICMEs) measured by different spacecraft at heliocentric distances ranging from ~0.3 up to 1 astronomical unit. In this work, we present the analyzed events, the ICME acceleration profile versus the distance; the fitted function and discuss the implications of this profile in the interplanetary drag coefficent and Reynolds number.
