The paper presents a brief overview of the subject of broad absorption line (BAL) QSO's, with some of the more important unresolved questions listed and commented upon. In particular, attention is given to the uncertainties involved in the classification of BAL QSO's, the incidence of BAL QSO's, and their emission line properties. The discussion also covers the geometrical properties of BAL clouds, the ionization mechanism of BAL gas, the line profiles of BAL QSO's, the ionization mechanism of BAL gas acceleration, and the relation between BAL and normal QSO's.
