The authors review the unified schemes of AGNs, which are based on relativistic beaming and obscuration of anisotropic gas surrounding the nucleus. They describe various unified schemes and their progress and outline the methods of statistic tests especially the role of R parameters. Also mentioned are the tests of unified schemes at multiple-wavebands.
