The paper `Properties of the X-ray-brightest Abell-type clusters of galaxies (XBACs) from ROSAT All-Sky Survey data - I. The sample was published in Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 281, 799-829 (1996). A typesetting error caused six lines of data to be omitted from Table 3 (on page 823). The correct version of that page of Table 3 is printed over-leaf. See Journal. The authors are grateful to Heinz Andernach for drawing their attention to the omission.
