For the class of stellar oscillations named odd-parity or axial modes, Chandrasekhar & Ferrari have found that, under appropriate conditions, there exists a spectrum with frequencies describing quasi-normal oscillations having long damping times. In this work we use different (and more appropriate for this kind of problem) numerical methods to show the existence of an additional part of the axial mode spectrum with quasi-normal mode frequencies having short damping times, for precisely the same stellar models that Chandrasekhar & Ferrari have considered. This part of the axial mode spectrum is similar to the w-modes found earlier by Kokkotas & Schutz.
