The alignment of non-spherical dust grains under the influence of corpuscular and/or radiative fluxes is studied in this paper. It is shown that internal energy dissipation (the Barnett relaxation) is important for this process. The solutions of the corresponding Fokker-Planck equations are used to obtain analytical expressions for the measure of alignment for both prolate and oblate grains. Our study indicates that Alfvénic perturbations can be responsible for grain alignment over vast regions of the ISM.
