Observational evidence is cited as proof that the universe is compactified, i.e., a topologically flat space. It is suggested that quasars are 'ghost' images that can appear in a universe with positive curvature (a sphere). A periodicity has been statistically detected for the redshifts of quasars, which may indicate the existence of a large-scale periodic perturbation in the mass distribution of the universe. It occurs on a whole-sky scale of 600/h(0)Mpc. The correlation would be a consequence of a multiply-connected manifold universe, but would not happen in a singly-connected universe. Furthermore, some observational/statistical evidence also exists for correlations between galaxies and quasars and it could be that images of galaxies and ghost images of quasars are seen along the same line of sight, a condition that would be possible in a compactified, multiply-connected universe.
