Photographic, spectroscopic and photometric observations of M1-77 indicate that nebular emissions of forbidden line O III are absent, and high dispersion spectra of the nebula yield an upper limit gas expansion velocity of 10 km/sec. In view of these results, it is concluded that M1-77 is a low excitation planetary nebula surrounding a cold central star whose mass is close to the lower boundary for planetary nebulae nuclei.
