Recent spectroscopic data are preliminarily communicated for the symbiotic variables HM Sge and V1016 Cyg, which are regularly followed at Asiago. HM Sge showed in 1981-1982 several variations in its spectral excitation level, remarkable for the [Fe VII] lines. At the same time V1016 Cyg presented changes in the intensity of the high-excitation unidentified emission at 6830 Å.
