The high-resolution antenna at the Centro Astronomico de Yebes (Spain) is used to make 3.4-mm observations of the solar brightness center-to-limb variation. A new technique that consists in comparing scans of the sun and the moon is used in order to eliminate the effects on the signals caused by the convolution of the source's brightness distribution with the antenna radiation pattern. The technique proves sensitive to narrow limb brightenings, which are not detected, and yields a rather wide (appreciable outside approximately 0.6 solar radius) and smooth slight brightening (approximately 6-10 percent). It is noted that this is marginally consistent with the Harvard Smithsonian Reference Atmosphere model of the chromosphere (with brightening values slightly below those predicted by the model) and is consistent with the 1.3-mm wavelength results of Horne et al. (1981) and with the absence of brightening observed at short centimeter wavelengths.
