The effect of tidal forces on the orbital velocities of galaxies in pairs is investigated analytically. An expression for the deviation from the Keplerian point-mass angular velocity is derived for the case of circular orbits, and some numerical calculations are presented. The tidal corrections for the Magellanic Clouds (as a companion of the Galaxy) and for M32 (as a companion of M31), assuming that they lay in the galactic planes, are estimated as 2 percent and up to 15 percent, respectively.
