Results of theoretical calculations of the energy and impedance parameters of a magnetotelluric field over a circular cylindrical body of elevated electrical conductivity in a uniform conducting half-space are presented and discussed. Total field components Hy and Ex and their anomalous components were used to calculate impedance, density of the vertical energy flux, the flux intensity coefficient, the volumetric density of the electric energy and of the magnetic energy, and the group velocity. For the investigation of zones of elevated conductivity in the earth's core, additional independent energy characteristics may be obtained by analyzing energy parameters and impedance parameters side by side.
