Modifications to a computer controlled high speed microdensitometer which can scan 287 x 287 mm astronomical photographic plates in 4 hr are described. The level of production on the machine, major projects being carried out, research highlights and developments to enhance the performance are outlined. It is used in studies of galactic structure, detection of variable objects, large scale distribution of galaxies, and detection of quasars.
