Two techniques for calibrating spot sensitometers are described. The first method involves a comparison of the wedge to a spot box with an accurately known source, but it is too time consuming. The second method uses a GaAs photomultiplier in a cold box, with light from the sensitometer being transmitted to the box via a fiber optic probe. This enables direct measurement of intensity, eliminating the need for photographic methods. Comparison of UV calibration of original calibration data and recalibration data reveals significant differences, with the recalibration being as accurate as possible with these sensitometers.
