In this paper, we take aim at a middle-sized δ spot with its separation, motions and helicity evolution in the active region NOAA 9077, using the magnetograms observed at Huairou Solar Observing Station (HSOS) and white-light images obtained by TRACE. We find that one spot had ever been the components for 3 different δ structures. Both the motions and their velocity varied obviously two hours before a very large flare (X5.7/3B). Moreover, we notice a reliable sign-inversing process of vertical current helicity in one component spot happened also two hours before the large flare, associated with the compact magnetic morphology being relaxed and the main spots being separated. Based on the observations, we think that the chirality variation is the main cause of the helicity-related separation of δ spots and, the variation is due to flux emergence from subphotosphere. A new model of sunspot flux loop systems is presented to explain the chirality reversing process for a middle-sized spot.
