Results of a wide field multicolor photographic survey for bright high redshift (z greater than 4) quasars are presented. No decline in the space density of these luminous high resdshift quasars compared to z = 2 quasars is apparent. Preliminary analysis of the emission line properties of this new sample of approximately 20 z greater than 4 quasars reveal a much wider dispersion in observed line strengths and profiles than is apparent in other samples of z greater than 4 quasars. Sensitive VLA (Very Large Array) radio observations of 29 optically selected quasars with redshifts in the range 3.5 less than z less than 4.7, in which 4 have been detected at 5 Ghz with S greater than 1 mJy were performed. Two of the radio loud quasars have redshifts greater than 4, with redshifts of 4.09 and 4.25, respectively. One of the other radio loud quasars may exhibit extended radio structure. A comparison with similar studies of quasars at lower redshift indicates that the radio properties of optically selected quasars were similar at z about 2 whereas at z less than 1 more quasars were radio loud.
