Properties of the Xspect high and low energy proportional counters and the Silicon X-Ray Array (SIXA) solid state pixel detector, part of the Xspect/Sodart experiment on Spectrum X-Gamma mission to be launched late in 1994 are considered. Typical Xspect Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) observations were simulated. The capabilities of the Xspect telescopes for obtaining detailed spectra of faint sources as expressed by detection in an energy interval of 1 keV at 2 and 8 keV respectively are discussed. Xspect is compared with Jet-X, the other main telescope on Spectrum X-Gamma. It is seen that Xspect runs into confusion problems long before Jet-X at low energies, whereas confusion is not a problem at high energies even for an observing time of 1 day. The comparison is made for various broader energy intervals. Again confusion is only a problem for Xspect at the lowest energies. The capacity of Xspect for obtaining the spectrum of DXRB is demonstrated. It was found that good spectra can be obtained for AGN at 25 percent of the Einstein deep survey limit and that the spectrum of the Diffuse X-Ray Background (DXRB) can be measured up to about 9 keV.
