The qualitative analysis of autonomous navigation characteristics for a spacecraft mission to an asteroid is carried out. The possibility of navigational support for the precisely controlled encounter of a spacecraft and a small Toutatis type asteroid is shown. The problem of using navigational measurements for the determination of some physical and celestial mechanics characteristics of the asteroid such as its mass, dimensions, and orbital elements is investigated. The work was partly supported by the International Institute of the Problems of Asteroid Hazard under the Grant `Toutatis-B2.'
