Submillimetre and millimetre continuum observations of the Serpens star-forming cloud core have revealed six discrete objects, four of which have no near IR counterparts. We propose that these represent a second, more recent phase of star formation in the core. The strongest submm source corresponds to a known FIR and IRAS source-Serpens FIRS1, and shows an elongated lobe parallel to jet-like features seen at other wavelengths.
