The existence of neutron stars was predicted in the thirties and only 30 years later they have been observed in the supernova remnants. The possibility that black holes exist was considered already at the end of the nineteenth century. How long will it take before we can observe black holes? Where shall we look for them? What might be INTEGRAL's role in this search? Trying to answer these questions we look for the detailed physical diagnostics of black hole candidates with different masses at gamma-ray energies, but also in other wavelength bands.
