The production of 26Al in asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars is summarized based on the latest stellar model calculations. The yields are compared to the aluminum isotopic compositions measured in meteoritic grains, to that observed around the carbon star IRC+10216, and to the Galactic 26Al abundance detected by COMPTEL. Perspectives with INTEGRAL are discussed.
