Observations of the novalike object in Vulpecula discovered independently in April, 1979 by Kuwano and Honda are presented. Examination of prediscovery plates indicates that the object had been increasing by five orders of magnitude since November, 1977 and appeared as an M4 star in September, 1978. UBV plates taken at the time of discovery reveal U, B and V magnitudes near 9.6, 9.3 and 9.1, respectively and indicate that the object was no longer an M star. Slit spectra of the object are consistent with the UBV colors and show an A-type spectrum without emission lines. A distance from the sun of 1.4 kpc and from the galactic plane of -200 pc is estimated from the absolute visual magnitude of the object implied by its spectrum. Possible mechanisms for the object are a nova in an accreting white dwarf/red giant star system, a planetary nebula and a flare-up of a T Tauri star.
