Scientific paper

The paper examines the observations of the optical double quasar 0957+561 taken on June 23 and 24, 1979 at a wavelength of 6 cm with 14 antennas for 6 minutes, as well as the phase and flux calibrators. The theory that these two quasars are actually one quasar refracted into two images by the gravitational field of an intervening massive object is questioned and their complex radio structure is found to be more easily interpreted as two separate quasars with a common origin, similar in their basic physical parameters and evolving in a similar fashion.
