The radio emission of a pulsar might be generated in the mantle of the neutron star and escape into the magnetosphere through magnetized rifts in the crust. The radio waves would accelerate the electrons and protons continuously flowing out of the mantle. Under certain conditions the radiation of a particle stream in the magnetic field of crystal fractures or the magnetosphere might be observable in the optical and X-ray ranges.
