A new type of shock wave which can exist only in a self-gravitating
system is analyzed. The treatment is illustrated by a simplified model
spiral galaxy - a rotating, gravitating gaseous disk. In such a disk the
oscillatory structure of the shock front will depend on the viscosity of
the gravitating gas.
