Recent discoveries have revealed that usually accepted optical light curve of SN 1054 was based on falsified informations, purposely recorded by the Chief of the Sung Empire Astronomical Bureau, because of "State reasons". The actual light curve, based on the whole corpus of historical records is discussed and the astrophysical implications are presented. The eventuality that the precursor of SN 1054 was recorded on Chinese sky maps is also discussed
