In the framework of our BeppoSAX long-term X-ray monitoring campaign, we observed AM Her in April 2001during a low state. Since December 2000, AM Her is still in such a low state. During the observation AM Her was first rather active, and then went in an as deep low state as the one we observed with BeppoSAX in September 1997. The X-ray data are complemented with optical simultaneous UBVR photometry which shows the absence of cyclotron emission and the dominance of the contribution of the still heated white dwarf in the bluer colors.
