The recent years have been extremely exciting for the SGR-lovers. The 4.5+-0.5 sources in this class have largely cooperated with significant and diverse activity. Discovery of new sources, two large flares, accurate localizations, discovery of pulsations and large period derivatives, new types of outbursts, and more, have kept interest in this field high. These new observations have allowed significant improvements in our understanding of these sources, providing evidence that they may host the largest magnetic fields so far observed in the Universe. I will review the observational status of SGRs in the X- and gamma-ray energy bands, with a particular emphasis on the results obtained in this field by the instrumentation onboard BeppoSAX.
