In the recent years, new missions like RossiXTE and BeppoSAX have
provided an unprecedented amount of X-ray data from Galactic Black Hole
Candidates. I will review the current phenomenological picture,
focussing on the spectral and timing properties during different
'states' of the sources, and on the transitions between these states.
