The eccentric-orbit binary model which has been developed by Haynes,
Lerche, and Murdin (1979) for the radio-emitting X-ray source Circinus
X-1 is used to calculate the inverse Compton gamma-ray flux. Burstlike
behavior is predicted in association with the formation near orbital
periastron of a luminosity-driven radially expanding shock front.
