Several properties of protoclusters of galaxies are predicted by placing restrictions on the primordial gas temperature and density and applying a simple model of protogalactic evolution. It is argued that present-day clusters should retain at least a memory of their primordial morphological gradients. A primordial correlation between central temperature and protocluster morphological type is found which is of the same sign as that observed today. Galactic mass and type gradients are also shown to be correlated with the central temperatures as actually observed. Calculations for the centers of the Coma and Perseus clusters are performed which indicate that the efficiency of the gas-stripping mechanism is probably not very high.
