We report the results of a mid-infrared low resolution variability study of 11 actively accreting T Tauri stars (TTS) in Taurus-Auriga using the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph Short-Low module. For each source, we collected eight epochs of observations capable of probing variability on timescales as short as a few days. In three of the sources (XZ Tau, CW Tau, and DG Tau), we detect significant variability in the strength and shape of the 10 μm silicate complex on the timescale of months. We will discuss the variations of the silicate features in terms of their crystalline versus amorphous structures, the extreme morphological changes in which the emission features fall into absorption shortward of 10 μm, and the impact of these short timescale variations on a disk evolutionary sequence for TTS based upon single-epoch observations of the silicate features. We suggest line-of-sight effects associated with the rotation of the disk and collisions between larger bodies within the disk as potential explanations for the observed fluctuations in the shapes of the silicate emission feature. Additionally, we report on the detection, and possible variability, of the [Ne II] 12.81 μm fine structure emission feature, in the transitional disk source, GM Aur, previously reported as a 5σ [Ne II] non-detection.
