We present the first data release for the VLA 1.4GHz Survey of the Extended Chandra Deep Field South (E-CDF-S). The program consisted of over 240 hours of VLA time during the summer of 2007, and will produce images with better than 7 µJy rms sensitivity per 2" beam across the full 32× x 32× E-CDF-S. This first data release represents first pass imaging and source catalogs, with the second data release planned for January 2009. These new high-resolution radio data complement existing Spitzer FIR and Chandra X-ray data, and will be instrumental in extending the FIR/radio correlation out to high redshift, examining star formation and AGN in the early universe, and identifying obscured AGN and consequently understanding their contribution to the X-ray background.
